Meet the Shark Clip
Shark is the patented hidden fastener at the heart of every Exterpark deck (you may know it by its former name, Magnet). It holds each board from below and locks it onto an aluminum joist, so nothing pierces the surface, the joints stay closed and every board remains independent. At IBS, the International Builders’ Show, Shark was named Most Innovative Construction Tool.
How a Shark Deck Goes Together
1. Set the Aluminum Joists
Aluminum joists sit on adjustable pedestals or on the existing base, straight and level. Aluminum doesn’t rot, warp or attract termites.
2. Seat the Shark Clips
Each clip sits on the joist at the board position. Nothing is screwed through the boards, so the walking surface stays clean.
3. Lock the Boards In
The clip grips the side groove of the board from underneath, and the next board closes the joint. Board by board, up to 3x faster than screw-down decking.
4. Lift Any Board, Any Time
Every board is independent. One board comes out for access to what sits below, or for a replacement, and goes back in without touching the rest.
